Our keynote speech will be delivered by Kara Alaimo, Ph.D., an Assistant Professor of Public Relations at Hofstra University, former global communicator in the Obama administration and United Nations, and author of the book Pitch, Tweet, or Engage on the Street: How to Practice Global Public Relations and Strategic Communication (Routledge, 2017). Dr. Alaimo will discuss how to communicate with parents, students and other stakeholders from different countries and cultures. She will take us on a tour of the world's 10 "cultural clusters," Confucian Asia, South Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Arab world, Latin America, the Anglo cluster, Latin Europe, Germanic Europe, Eastern Europe and Nordic Europe, and explain the communication strategies that are most effective when interacting with people from each region of the world.
